It may say "April" on the calendar but it’s already Summer Time for us in South Florida! That’s why we have a sizzling cover story on page 10 by Christine – a part II look at a talented young man, Jovishes. We also have back a favorite – Urban Profiles – on page 46 with a focus on Heavy Weight Boxer Shannon Briggs! You’ll find Trent’s Hip Hop on page 28, Tracey’s up to date movie reviews on page 36 and all you need to know about your future from the Horoscopes on page 40.

Congratulations go out to the Miami HEAT Family Outreach (who held a fundraiser on March 18th at The Shore Club in South Beach). To date the Heat Players have raised more than $1.5 million to date on behalf of a variety of ill children’s charities. If you’d like more information how to donate to their causes you can visit their website, www.heat.com.

Chalk these folks up to the "people-I’d-like-to-make-friends" with we can include Oprah Winfrey, Tiger Woods and Mike Tyson. The reason being that Forbes lists them as being among the top ten paid celebrities this past year (earning respectively $150 million for the talk show hostess with the mostest, $53 million for the golf course wonder and $48 million to the man who can’t stay out of the rink (or the clink).

Have any of you gone out drinking recently in Perry, Florida? Well don’t! Talmadge Branch, chairman of the Black Caucus of the Maryland House of Delegates recently tried to get a drink there and was denied – the case is now going to court. Note to stupid rascists: try to pretend to be nice to high-profile law-makers and celebrities (duh)!

Well, the census is out – and with it the knowledge that we and our Latino sisters and brothers are numerically equal (and too often – equally poor and equally underprivileged!). Here are some other "stats" you may not have heard – but just as true (and just as chilling): A $1.50 per person was spent by the United Nations on victims of the various Yugoslavian civil wars. For the just as disastrous civil wars in the Congo – the UN spent just eleven cents per person….hmm. America ranks first worldwide as the nation with the most billionaires and millionaires. We rank 16th worldwide in our ability to lift children out of poverty. Every year over one million women and children are trafficked around the world – as sex slaves, domestic servants and forced labor. Clearly – we still have a long way to go to achieve universal equality. Let’s hope these new census numbers give us the strength to empower us to seek our share of the pie.

For those of you titillated by sex and the internet, there is a hot new site for you – www.romp.com - some people laughingly call it "Sex and the Inner City," let’ s just say it has lots of "urban" appeal. Guess who else is coming to TV? Exploiting his personality to the fullest it’s none other than Snoop Dogg who will soon have a cartoon character on the Fox Network’s popular show KING OF THE HILL – in their 100th episode, he will play of all things, a pimp. You can spot favorite actor Don Cheadles soon alongside Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker in RUSH HOUR 2. At least we can count on our power at the box office and our continued high profile impact in the entertainment industries! And remember – if you want to stay cool as the months get hotter you can only do that by being cool – that means reading NOW Entertainment and supporting our advertisers! .

Peace!
