______ by Trent Partridge

Born Trevor Smith Jr., 20 May 1972, Brooklyn, New York, USA. Rapper Busta Rhymes is back in 2001 in ready to Busta new lyrics and spirits of hip-hop upon us. Born in Brooklyn Busta moved to Long Island as an adolescent. In Long Island he began rapping at age 12, and eventually met his future partner MC Charlie Brown at a rap contest. Busta began recording with MC Charlie Brown under the name LONS after he won a rap contest sponsored by Chuck D of Public Enemy. This lead to the formation of the popular 90’s hip-hop group Leaders Of The New School. The Leaders ‘PTA’ rap was a # 1 hip hop hit and lead the group to fame and stardom. The obvious true leader was Busta with his raw lyrics, unforgettable voice, and phat delivery. It was only a matter of time before he went solo. His guest appearance along with Charlie Brown his Leaders rap mate on the ‘Scenario’ by “A Tribe Call West” shot Busta into the stratosphere of hip hop and touched on pop followings. 3 albums later and he is back raw as hell. His new album Genesis is by far one of his best releases. Every track on the album is scorchin like red heat. From the hot track ‘Shut Em Down’ where he does a count down and explodes into his lyrics to his 1st track on the album ‘Everybody Ride’ it takes you to the next level of rap superiority. The first release is a bite off one of his old tracks. The track ‘As I Come Back” produced by the hip-hop hit makers Neptune’s is a guaranteed hit no doubt. Busta took a bite out of sampling and sampled his own lyrics. Did he get permission? Busta Ryhme actor rapper is up for a Grammy and truly is a rap legend. His success in acting with his role in the remake of Shaft has propelled him into regular America as a great actor. His mainstream identity didn’t hold him back on this album. He definitely stayed true to the streets and Brooklyn and kept it real. His delivery is what he is known for and his speed delivery just hits you in the head like a Lawrence Taylor hit. His track ‘Break Your Back’ combines that Porsche speed delivery with his never forgettable delivery ‘Break Your Back Nigga” is just straight raw. How can ya put out an album today without having a ‘Bounce’ track on it. Busta starts saying bounce 10 times with a tumble weeded hypnotic beat underneath.

Busta’s album is one of his best. This is easy platinum status. Everyone who loves hip-hop should by this. He has songs that cater to all coast and come on its Busta.
