presents
the
5th
Annual
Carnival
Warm-Up,
Sunday,
September
7,
2003,
at
the
Hialeah
Park,
2200
East
4th
Ave,
Miami,
Florida.
The
gates
to
the
park
will
open
at
12:00
noon
until
11:00pm,
and
show
time
is
4:00pm.
This
multi-cultural
event,
the
only
one
of
its
kind
in
Miami,
will
coincide
with
the
special
41st
Independence
celebrations
of
both
Jamaica
and
Trinidad
&
Tobago.
Carnival
Warm-Up
2003
is
a
family-based
event,
and
will
honor
one
outstanding
individual
from
each
island.
Being
honored
for
their
remarkable
contributions
to
the
cultural
diversity
and
rich
history
of
their
respective
countries
are,
MARCUS
GARVEY
(Jamaica)
and
PETER
MINSHALL
(Trinidad
&
Tobago).
Carnival
Warm-Up
2003,
will
also
feature
great
performances
from
Soca
superstars
like
BUNJI
GARLIN,
THE
JAM
BAND,
DENISE
BELFON,
LEON
CALDERO
&
THE
CODE
868
BAND,
MILITANT,
DESTRA,
RHYTHM
NATIONS
and
many
more
to
be
announced.
Additionally,
the
Steel
Pan
Panorama
will
feature
the
FLORIDA
MEMORIAL
COLLEGE
STEEL
PAN
and
the
MIAMI
PAN
SYMPHONY,
the
MOKO
JUMBIE
STILT
DANCERS
and
the
LIVE
IN
MOTION
DANCERS,
are
all
confirmed
to
provide
top
class
entertainment.
Music
will
be
provided
all
day
by
South
Florida's
own
selectors,
MASSIVE
FORCE
and
DJ
Gary
Enforcement.
Various
island
venders
will
line
the
perimeter
of
Hialeah
Park,
shopping
their
ware
of
art
&
craft,
foods,
drinks,
carnival
costumes
and
other
precious
Caribbean
delights,
to
the
8,000
to
10,000
Caribbean
nationals
and
their
friends,
who
annually
attend
Carnival
Warm-Up.
Special
attention
will
be
paid
to
the
kids
in
the
form
of
various
activities,
designed
with
them
in
mind.
Amongst
the
many
games
and
activities
for
the
kids
are;
a
bounce
house,
a
basketball
hoop
contest,
sledge
hammer,
cow
milking,
golf
challenge,
a
frog
fly
fling,
and
a
balloon
tank.
