Street Talk

Dancehall producer, CALL ME SHAMS, is getting ready to drop his next riddim. This one is called THE HAMMER. Sure to be another popular riddim from this musician/producer. There are already songs recorded by artists; Beenie Man, Chemical, Chico, Elephant Man, Desperado, Hawkeye, Mr. Vegas, TOK and Wayne Marshal. Of course there are more artists he‚s looking to voice on this riddim as well. Be sure to keep your eyes and ears posted for this new one!

ELEPHANT MAN recently shot a video in New York for “Pon Di River Pon Di Bank”. Artists rallied up in support of this like; Bounty Killer, Bone Crusher, Kiprich, Round Head and Wayne Marshal, Wyclef, and some radio heads like Bobby Konders & Jabba, Roy Barbaroza, Steph Lova, Jah T (Power 99 from Philly) ˆ who knows what will make it in. The video was shot by director GIL GREENE (responsible for Sizzla’s “Mama” video) and was filmed at a Club Float in Manhattan on W 52nd Street. The video
concept was your basic club scene with some of the latest yard dances. Word is this video is gonna be hot! This should be out in early September.

KELLY ROWLAND (from Destiny’s Child) is getting ready for her first film. Already having a few TV appearances under her belt, she‚s getting ready to be featured in the movie “The Seat Filler”. This movie is being produced by Will and Jada Smith (soon to become a super Hollywood powerhouse couple?) who are also lining up their new UPN show “All Of Us”.

LAURYN HILL has been keeping a very low profile, so low that fans have been
wondering what’s up. Well, don‚t worry; she‚s been in the studio wrapping up her next album in Miami. The new album is not current scheduled for release but it does feature The Wailers on the album. Should be interesting to see how much of a Caribbean influence this one holds.

RAKIM is definitely one of the most noted Hip Hop artists in history. It’s been a long time since we’ve actually had new Rakim material as both he and Eric B have been more behind the scene over the years. However, recently Rakim was reported to be working with Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment and was preparing for a new album. Sadly, it doesn’t look like this will come to fruition as Rakim has left Aftermath over creative directive differences. Shame really, I for one would have loved to hear some new Rakim!

TONY “CD” KELLY is about to drop a bomb on the place with his new riddim “GRINDIN”! Of course he‚s an acclaimed Dancehall producer who‚s credited with the production on hits like “Worker Man” from Patra, “Deporte Dem” from Sean Paul, “Anything For You” by Snow, “Chi Chi Man” by TOK and more! His new GRINDIN riddim features songs like; “Cry” from Budd, “Lock Da Ends” by Chico, “She Want It” from Delly Ranks, “Dem Fi Know” from Major Damage, “If It’s Alright” by Mr. Easy, “Burn” from the duo Tanto Metro & Devonte, “No Way Jose” from TOK and “Bounce Hard” by Voice Mail. He’s got plans to record with other artists as well. You might be also hearing new songs from; Lady Saw, Maurice Gregory who is Papa San’s brother, Sean Paul, Tanya Stephens and Wayne Wonder.
