D. Banks

He’s Sexy, appealing, and intriguing. His music is romantic, soothing, and heartwarming. It’s nonprejudice, far from judgmental, and extremely versatile. His love for music is unconditional. His music spreads throughout your body and constantly nurtures your soul. His music will be your shield during a storm and in the cold it keeps you warm. This is the music of Derrick P. Ebanks.

Derrick was born in Miami, Fl June 15, 1980 to parents Gloria Dean Harris and Roy Alexander Ebanks Sr. He joined his Community Church during his youthful years while singing in the gospel choir. He also enjoyed good R&B music. As a youth, he was inspired by artists such as Brian McKnight, Boyz II Men, Jodeci, and H-Town. After dedicating years to singing and music in 1998, Derrick and his childhood friend Jerome Baker organized a singing duo “Direct”. Their group was known as one of the best local duets in the city of Miami. After making several different appearances they were known as ‘The Two Guys Who Make You Melt”.

In 2001, he was introduced to James Jackson, President and founder of Slick Salt Entertainment. He dedicated every
moment he could to becoming as knowledgeable about the business as possible. He also made a connection
with his soon to be label mates. Derrick traveled with the label to different shows as a member of the promo street team.
Derrick was extremely supportive of the label’s artists. Slick Salt Entertainment valued Derrick’s loyalty. As he laid his
foundation, he also submitted demos repeatedly. James Jackson admired his voice and always said, “There is something about his
voice!” ::: Full Story :::
